Due to the immense amount of sensitive consumer data stored, online shops are a target for cybercriminals. In order to gain insight into data security in online shopping, a study of online shopping platforms was undertaken. After analysing the market for online shopping platforms, the security features of selected shop software were examined and a representative consumer survey was conducted to assess consumer awareness of data security when shopping online. The evaluation of the results is documented in the attached final report. For reproducibility and further analysis of the quantitative survey, the cleaned and anonymized microdata as well as the corresponding codebooks are available.
