What is GinkgoSDK?

GinkgoSDK is a collection of programming tools (pre-installed on some Android devices) that can be used/misused to perform other actions without the user's consent. This may include displaying advertisements or downloading and installing other malware.

GinkgoSDK can also send text messages.

How did I get infected with GinkgoSDK?

The malware is pre-installed on the device firmware and therefore does not require any interaction on the part of the user. The malicious program is already installed on the smartphone at the time of purchase.

What do I have to do now?

As GinkgoSDK is installed as part of the device firmware, it cannot be removed using conventional security solutions. We recommend that users contact the manufacturer of their phone for a firmware update.
