Recognition as a NESAS CCS-GI evaluation facility

The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has been offering recognition for a NESAS--Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme evaluation laboratory since July 1, 2022. NESAS CCS-GI--German Interpretation is a national certification scheme for 5G mobile communications equipment and enables manufacturers to have their product's security claim confirmed by an independent certificate. The associated process for product certification includes two testing activities. First, the software development and lifecycle processes are examined by an audit team. This ensures that IT security aspects are adequately addressed in all phases of the product life cycle. The specific product is then evaluated by an evaluation laboratory. The product evaluation is based on the Security Assurance Specifications (SCAS) for standardised functions specified by 3GPP. In addition, during the evaluation, suitable evidence specified in the audit is used to check again that the audited processes have been used for the examined product in terms of the security by design approach.
