TR-03109-2: Requirements for Security Module Functionality and Interoperability
The protection profile for smart meter gateways requires the use of a certified security module that mainly aids gateways in creating and verifying signatures and generating keys and random numbers.
This security module is also meant to serve as a form of secure storage (for private key material, for example) and thus represents an important trust anchor for smart meter gateways. These and other functional requirements, including with regard to the interoperability of products from different manufacturers, can be found in Technical Guideline TR-03109-2.
