In its role as an association of financial institutions in Germany, the German Banking Industry Committee has established an approval scheme for various cashless payment procedures. It enables market participants to offer products and services related to the operation of corresponding systems. This in turn guarantees smooth and secure payment processing while also facilitating a wide variety of products and solutions.

In addition, the results of evaluations and certifications in line with the Common Criteria are incorporated into such approvals. These results include CC certificates from the BSI in the area of chip cards (for related hardware and operating systems, for example) and for terminals used in payment transactions.
