Companies -- general
IT and cyber security as a requirement for successful digitalisation
In the process of digitalisation, the networking of data, objects and machines in companies is increasing exponentially. Digital business processes open up a host of opportunities, but in principle they could turn any company into a victim of a cyber attack. Operators of critical infrastructure KRITIS in particular are at risk of becoming the target of an attack. As digitalisation increases, so do the points of attack for potential cyber attacks on companies. The number of attacks on commercial enterprises is growing and criminal attacks are causing record damage. Both the scope and the quality of attacks are increasing and are developing all the time. The types of attack are diverse and impair a company's competitiveness.
Companies must orientate their digital strategy towards IT and cyber security to take account of this dynamic threat landscape. Cyber security must be seen as a mandatory requirement for commercial success and be implemented as part of the risk management strategy. Information security is a strategic topic, which makes it the responsibility of senior management.
