The protection of electronic classified information using IT security products is a challenging task. The challenges are manifold and growing steadily. A dynamic threat landscape and higher requirements on IT security products are just two examples. In order to deal with these challenges efficiently, a constant communication and exchange of all stakeholders involved in the BSI approval scheme is crucial. The CI Innovation Forum addresses this demand.

The CI Innovation Forum is the exchange platform for all stakeholders involved in the BSI approval scheme. The Forum provides an extensive network of the CI community that consists of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), users, IT operators, developers, and CC labs. Within the CI community, there is also a constant and mutual exchange on IT products for classified information (CI products). This joint dialogue within the CI community aims to provide the best supply of CI products to the public administration. Since 2019, special lectures, tutorials, and workshops have been coordinated and held at the CI Innovation Forum. During each of those events, challenges relating to the approval of IT security products as well as general challenges in the field of protecting electronic classified information are covered.

By participating at the CI Innovation Forum, all stakeholders of the BSI approval scheme benefit from numerous networking opportunities and exchanging their experiences. Together with the BSI, the CI community has the opportunity for discussions on current needs and requirements for IT security for the protection of CI in the light of current topics. This ensures that the public administration's need for CI-product is continually covered in the best possible way.
